Enjoy this little story from the field about a man we met in Amman, Jordan named Jaber.

“I believe in being safe with God.”

“I do good things, I don’t drink alcohol, I don’t kill people, I am a nice person.”

“I believe in the Bible and the Quran and the Talmud; they are all good books. I believe them all.”

“I love all people, Christian, Jewish, Muslim, I love them all. They believe what they believe, I believe what I believe.”

– Jaber

Jaber is the owner of Sunrise Hotel in Amman. He is a kind man, with Muslim beliefs and many, many questions. Many questions about Jesus’ death and resurrection, many questions about God, many questions about the Trinity, and more.

Late one night, a conversation between Jaber, Hannah, Corban and I about the Bible began to turn into an apologetics discussion. After discussing various topics in depth and reading scripture together for about an hour, I knew that this was not going to be a matter of him “hearing the right answers” about all of his questions, but Him needing to experience and encounter the true God himself. I asked my final question for the night.

“Jaber, can we pray with you?” He agreed.

After praying that the Lord would reveal himself to Jaber through a dream or a vision, Jaber said something that blew our mind.

“I have had between 10-12 dreams about Jesus. Everytime I have had one of these dreams, it has been after ‘someone like you’ has prayed for me.”

Corban, Hannah and I looked at Jaber, then each other, awestruck at what he just said.

“You’ve had 12 dreams about Jesus?!?!?!?!” was our shocked response.

“Yes. In each one of my dreams, Jesus has long hair, a long white robe with 2 layers, and pierced hands. And each time I wake up from my dream with goosebumps. And since you prayed for me, I’ll have another one tonight.”

Corban, Hannah and I headed back to our room, amazed at the conversation we just had. We began worshipping and interceding for Jaber. Praying for God to reveal to Jaber in a dream tonight that Jesus is the Son of God. Praying that this is not just “another dream” for him, but a sign that God is fighting for Jaber’s heart.

I woke up the next morning, eager to find out if Jaber had another dream.

I walked downstairs and Jaber greeted me with a friendly “Good Morning!”.

“Good morning, Jaber! Did you have a dream last night?”

“Yes. Of course I did, I told you last night, I always do after people like you pray for me”.

Shocked once again, he told me that he had a dream and Corban was in it. Jesus looked the same in this dream as he did in all of his other dreams. But this time, in the dream, Corban was worshipping Jesus.

We talked a little while longer, and explained that his dreams are rare and unique. That Jesus loves him. That this is God trying to speak to him.

There’s really no profound way to end this blog, as Jaber continues to believe that “everyone has dreams about Jesus, right?”.

I pray that he will realize that God is trying to captivate his heart. That these dreams are not “normal”, but supernatural. That the truth has been/is being revealed to him, now he just has to believe it.
